"Odesa 214" Exhibition

On the 22nd-24th of October, 2008 Odesa saw the International Black Sea Transport Forum.

Within the limits of the Forum the following exhibitions took place: the 8th International exhibition on shipping, shipbuilding and ports development "Odesa 214", the 10th International exhibition "Trans Ukraine 2008", the specialized exhibition "Container. Service. Transportation 2008", the specialized exhibition "Storage technologies 2008" and the International railway exhibition "Trans Rail Ukraine 2008". The international conferences "Development of the Ukrainian transport strategy. The ways of development of the Ukrainian and the near abroad transport infrastructure" and "Sea and inland waterways transportation. Questions concerning shipbuilding, economic cooperation, functioning and development" were held within the framework of the Forum.

The Forum was opened by such honorary guests as Stanku M. (Consul General of Romania in Odesa), Lekveishvili T. (Vice-Consul of the Consulate General of Georgia), Adamchuk A. (Consul General of Poland in Odessa), Makarchuk V.A. ( head of the Department of Municipal Transport in Odesa), Melashchenko S.V. (secretary general of the Black Sea International Shipowners Association (BINSA), Dosenko V.A. (the First Vice-President of the International Academy of Transport ), Trifonov N. (Counsellor of Consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria), Sivak M. (director of IT "Media Compass").

The director of IT "Media Compass" the company that organized the Forum said, "These exhibitions and conferences play a very important role today. Their aims are to represent the modern technologies of shipbuilding, ship repairing, cargo transportation, to attract freights in transit to Ukraine, to modernize sea, port and transport infrastructures and to win over foreign and home investors".

The delegation of Odesa National Maritime Academy consisted of Zakharchenko V.N. (Doctor of Engineering, professor, the Deputy Rector of ONMA on scientific and pedagogical work), Masur O.N. (the head of the Advertising-informational Department), Serik N. (specialist of the International and Economic Cooperation Department), Prikhod'ko E. (specialist of the International and Economic Cooperation Department), Zozulya N. (specialist of the Advertising-informational Department), Zaveriukha A. (specialist of the Advertising-informational Department), Andreeva N. (specialist of the Advertising-informational Department), Vasilenko Yu. (specialist of the Advertising-informational Department) and cadets of the Maritime Law Faculty.

In the context of the international conference "Sea and inland waterways transportation. Questions concerning shipbuilding, economic cooperation, functioning and development" the report "Problems of peopleware in sea transportation" was presented by professor Zakharchenko V.N.

Odesa National Maritime Academy was awarded a diploma for active participation in the International exhibition "Odessa 214".
