International Ukrainian and Japanese Conference on Industrial and Scientific Cooperation

On 24-25 October, the International Ukrainian and Japanese Conference on Industrial and Scientific Cooperation was held at Odessa National Polytechnic University.

The objective of this event was an attempt to study new possibilities and legal framework of foreign investment into innovation projects for national production, and to demonstrate the theoretical and practical potential of native higher educational establishments to our Japanese participants of the forum, besides, to gather the potential producers and the customers of intellectual product.

E.M. Sulima, the first Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine opened the exhibition and stated that the foreground task for the Ministry was to ensure the conditions for the further dynamic development of education and science in Ukraine.

Considering the main issues of discussion, namely: the problem of Intellectual Property, technologies transfer, private, state national and foreign investment into science, the perspectives and promoting of innovations in production, etc.

The Chief experts of government, legal, industrial, scientific and technological spheres took part in the conference.

The opening was attended by M.V. Kovin, the Head of the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine, V.A. Ivchenko, the Deputy Head of the State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization, D.B. Voloshenkov, the Deputy Chair of Odessa Regional State Administration and others. The representatives of the Odessa National Maritime Academy were the following: O.M. Shemiakin, the First Deputy Rector of ONMA, V.A. Golikov, Deputy Rector on Scientific work, V.D. Savchuk, the Head of Scientific and Research Department, O.N. Mazur, the Head of Advertisement and Information Department.

The Japanese delegation was represented by Fudziki Kandzi, the Deputy Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; Sakata Toichi, Ambassador and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine; Nakamura Michiharu, President of the Agency for Science and Technology of Japan (JST), Obara Michio, the Executive Director of the Agency for Science and Technology of Japan (JST) and others.
